04 Our Craft

The detail is never decoration —it is the reason a garment feels made for you.

  1. Embroidered blouse panels laid out flat in gold and maroon before assembly

    Step 01

    Designed together

We begin with a conversation — the occasion, your saree or fabric, the neckline and sleeve you have in mind — and take your measurements.

  2. Gold zardosi neckline border with maroon stones worked by hand on ivory silk

    Step 02

    Embellished by hand

Motifs are planned onto the panels and worked by hand in aari and maggam embroidery, using zari, beads, stones and thread.

  3. A tailor at an industrial sewing machine in the SLB studio, measuring tape around his neck

    Step 03

    Stitched & finished

Each piece is cut, stitched, pressed and finished in our studio, ready to be worn to the occasion it was made for.

  • Gold, green and yellow aari florets along a violet neckline
  • Fine gold bead and sequin edging on a red neckline
  • Gold-thread lines ending in small hand-made drops on a fuchsia sleeve
  • Hands finishing a green garment with needle and thread

05 Our Story

A studio built around the fitting room.

SLB Designer Studio is a made-to-measure design studio in CQAL Layout, Sahakar Nagar, Bengaluru, with a second studio in Yelahanka New Town.

Our work centres on designer blouses, bridal wear and festive ensembles — and on the conversation that comes before them: the occasion, the saree, and the person who will wear it. Cutting, stitching, embroidery and finishing all happen under our roof.
